Air Pollution from Industrial Zones are worsening

Bekasi - Head of Environment pollution and control department of West Java, Setiawan Wangsaatmaja said that air pollution in major cities and Bekasi that is contributed from industrial zones have already exceeded the maximum limit.

"Air pollution in indsutrial zones have reached a concerning state," Setiawan said to Tempo at the Socialization event for area regulation No.11 2006 on air pollution in Lippo Cikarang yesterday.

According to him, the Air Quality monitoring station of West Java have found pollution contributed from Industrial Zones have exceeded the maximum limit of pollution which is SO2 (emission from coal and diesel usage) which has to be limited at 365microgram per normal meter cubic, PM10 (particulate meter) 150 microgram per normal meter cubic, and TSP (total suspended particulate) 230 microgram per normal meter cubic.

Areas with high air pollution levels are the central business district of Bekasi.
