Environmental issues growing nowadays in property sector are affecting property products. Developers have to fulfill consumers’ demand of not only a convenient but even more healthy housing. They then respond by building housing with green concept.
The green concept is translated differently by
developers, some apply this extensively, while others not. Autonomous
city Lippo Cikarang, Bekasi, for example, has implemented green concepts and
integrated solutions. In the area of three thousand hectares, green color
dominates. House designs and environment are also arranged in such a way that
makes people feel comfortable and healthy.
Ria Sormin, Public Relations Manager of PT Lippo Cikarang Tbk, said that Lippo Cikarang has been implementing Green concept since early development. This is partly manifested in the median with 56-meter main road which is full of greenery. Street cleanliness are maintained every day by special officers
In addition, in various places throughout the region, holes infiltrations
(biopori) are provided to absorb rainwater and prevent drought and floods.
"With so many trees, the atmosphere becomes fresh. It makes people healthier," said Ria to Republika
on Wednesday (19 / 5).
According to Ria, green concept is applied in all clusters in the form of green open space (parks). Various points also encouraged reforestations. Lippo Cikarang has its own clean water and waste water treatment plants. Thus, waste water will not harm the environment and health. "Waste from the industrial is discharge through underground pipes. Previously the waste was processed so it is safe to dispose" said Ria.
Moreover, PT Lippo Cikarang also built five artificial lakes. The Lake is useful for collecting rainwater and preventing drought. To provide trees for greenery, Lippo Cikarang collaborates with schools within the area in a program named “Mini Nursery Program”.
Building Design
According to Ria houses in Lippo Cikarang are designed with high ceiling to creates volume of fresh indoor air. “Fresh air makes residents healthier”, she said. Windows are also designed wider, to gives better air circulation inside the house.
